Hi-PROTEC : EV Fire Blanket
Save All You Love, Protect Your Life
A fire blanket for electric vehicles made from ≥96% pure silica fiber, rated to withstand heat up to 1,100°C, meets DIN SPEC 91489:2024-11 requirements, and tested by SGS — containing an EV battery fire from the first minute.
Max service temperature
Full EV coverage, 28 kg net weight
Pure silica fiber, dual-side silicone coating
Standby shelf life when properly maintained
The Risk
EV lithium-ion battery fires (thermal runaway) generate intense, self-sustaining heat that standard water extinguishers struggle to suppress instantly; unchecked, they endanger surrounding vehicles and building structures.
The Solution
Hi-PROTEC helps contain the fire and limit its spread, seals off oxygen, drastically reduces toxic smoke and confines the thermal hazard — safeguarding assets and buying critical time for professional firefighters.
Trap Heat, Cut Off Oxygen, Limit the Spread
Simply deploy the fire blanket over the affected EV. It traps heat and cuts off oxygen — a key factor in the fire's spread — reducing toxic smoke and limiting radiant heat, creating a safer area for responders to take over.
Deployment steps:
- Approach the vehicle with 2 people, each holding one corner of the blanket.
- Cover the whole vehicle completely with the blanket.
- Make sure the blanket sits snugly, then secure and monitor the surrounding area.
- ✓ Ready to deploy immediately — no mechanism or water required
- ✓ Designed for at least 2 people to pull it fully over the vehicle quickly
- ✓ PFAS-free, with a 20-year standby storage life

Frequently Asked Questions
How many people does it take to deploy?
It's designed for at least 2 people to pull it fully over the vehicle, using the red pull straps to orient it correctly.
Can it be reused?
It depends on its condition after use. Have the Centrotec team inspect it before any reuse.
How is an EV fire blanket different from a fire extinguisher?
A lithium-ion battery fire keeps generating heat from inside the pack, so water and standard extinguishers struggle to suppress it quickly. Hi-PROTEC isn't meant to put the battery out on the spot. It contains the fire: it cuts off oxygen to the external flames, traps heat and smoke under a 1,100°C-rated silica barrier, and keeps the incident to one vehicle until the fire brigade takes over.
What should we do after the vehicle is covered?
Always raise the alarm and call the fire brigade (199 in Thailand) before deploying. Once the blanket covers the car and is sealed against the ground, step back and keep everyone clear. Do not lift or reposition the blanket, because gas may have accumulated underneath. Keep monitoring for smoke, sound and heat until the fire brigade takes command. A battery that looks extinguished can reignite hours later.
How should the blanket be stored and inspected?
It comes in a high-visibility yellow IP65 container that is water- and dust-protected. Keep it visible and unobstructed so it can be reached fast, and include it in your routine safety inspections. With proper storage, its standby life is up to 20 years.
Do staff need training?
Yes. Train your site staff and rehearse at least the approach and cover steps. The two responders should wear appropriate PPE and approach from upwind, away from ventilation intakes. Centrotec can run an on-site demonstration for your safety team.
What size is Hi-PROTEC and how much does it weigh?
The standard size is 6 × 8 m with a net weight of 28 kg, which fully covers an electric vehicle. Four reinforced corner loop straps with red pull handles make it fast to deploy.
How many blankets does a building need?
One blanket covers one vehicle. The right number depends on your parking bays, charging points and access distances in each area. Centrotec offers a free on-site survey to recommend how many to keep and where to place them.
