Types of Thermal Insulation to Know Before Installation

รู้ไว้ก่อนติดตั้ง ฉนวนกันความร้อน มีกี่ประเภท

Thermal insulation is an innovation that helps reduce the temperature in homes, buildings, and factories effectively. Its specific properties allow it to directly reduce heat, making it a long-lasting solution for places with high heat problems. So, what types of thermal insulation are there? Here are five major types commonly used in Thailand today:

5 Types of Thermal Insulation You Should Know Before Installation

Currently, there are many types of thermal insulation available in Thailand, but there are five major types that are widely popular and commonly used.

1. Microfiber Insulation

Microfiber Insulation

Microfiber insulation is suitable for ceilings and roofs. It not only provides heat insulation but also soundproofing. It comes in both T-bar ceiling types and types laid over the ceiling. This insulation type effectively reduces the heat transferred from the roof and also minimizes noise from rain and other disturbances above the roof.

2. Rockwool Insulation

Rockwool Insulation

Rockwool insulation, made from volcanic rock fibers, offers natural stability and durability. It can withstand temperatures over 1,000 degrees Celsius, making it highly safe for living spaces and easy to install.

3. Cellulose Fiber Insulation

Cellulose Fiber Insulation

Cellulose fiber insulation is made from recycled wood or paper fibers treated with fire retardant chemicals. It is available in three forms and is suitable for use in walls and under the roof of buildings, offering a certain level of fire protection.

4. Calcium Silicate Insulation

Calcium Silicate Insulation

Calcium silicate insulation is porous and made from a mixture of siliceous sand, fibers, and hydrated lime, processed under high steam pressure to form fine white hydrate fibers. It comes in both mineral and synthetic fiber forms, which can be cut and pasted like gypsum boards and painted over. It can withstand temperatures up to 650 degrees Celsius, making it suitable for high-temperature industrial applications.

5. Aluminum Foil Insulation

Aluminum Foil Insulation

Aluminum foil insulation features two layers of shiny aluminum foil that are especially tough and smooth. It reflects heat but does not completely prevent it from entering the building. It is commonly installed on roof structures and, when used in conjunction with other types of insulation, enhances overall heat protection efficiency.

If you are facing heat issues in your home or workplace, installing thermal insulation is an excellent choice to help reduce the temperature, making the environment more comfortable and reducing electricity costs.
